Diesel Engine Overhaul — Dallas, TX

Diesel Engine Overhaul in Dallas, TX

Engine burning oil, losing power or knocking? At Bawa’s Truck & Trailer Repair in Dallas, we do in-frame and out-of-frame diesel engine overhauls for semi trucks. We tell you what’s wrong, which kind of overhaul makes sense, and what it costs before we start.

What Is a Diesel Engine Overhaul?

An overhaul rebuilds the worn parts inside the engine so it runs like it should again. In an in-frame overhaul the engine stays in the truck and we rebuild the lower end, usually pistons, liners, rings and bearings. In an out-of-frame overhaul the engine comes out so more of it can be inspected and rebuilt. Which one is right depends on what’s worn and how bad.

FAQ

Engine Overhaul Questions, Answered

What are signs a diesel engine needs an overhaul?

Rising oil consumption, heavy blow-by, low power, hard starting, oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil, and knocking. One sign alone does not always mean an overhaul, so get it checked first.

What is the difference between in-frame and out-of-frame?

In an in-frame overhaul the engine stays in the truck and the lower end is rebuilt. In an out-of-frame overhaul the engine comes out so more of it can be inspected and rebuilt.

Which overhaul do I need?

It depends on what is worn and how much. We diagnose the engine first and tell you which option makes sense and why.

How much does a diesel engine overhaul cost?

It depends on the engine, the type of overhaul and the parts needed. We give you the price before any work starts.

How long does an engine overhaul take?

It depends on the type of overhaul and parts availability. We give you the timeline with the estimate.
